FAQ

What’s your turnaround time?

Because everything is made to order, our standard turnaround is 2–3 weeks. Sometimes we whip things out in way less (we get excited). Either way, if we finish early, you’ll be the first to know.

Can I rush an order?

Sometimes, yes—depending on the schedule.
We can occasionally work magic, but rush orders mean rearranging the studio universe, so there may be an extra fee. Message us and we’ll tell you what’s possible.

Do you add bracing?

Yes, we sure do. As canvases get bigger, we add bracing for stability and rigidity. It’s included in the listed price.

Is the canvas primed?

Currently, our standard stretched canvas is raw (unprimed) 10oz cotton.
If you want primed or specialty canvas, contact us. Pre-primed options coming soon.

What canvas depth do your floater frames fit?

Our floaters are built for 1.5" gallery-depth canvases. For other depths, request a custom quote.

What is the float gap?

Our standard float gap is approximately 3/16"–1/4".
Because everything is handmade, it can vary slightly (in a charming, intentional, and consistent way across your order).

How do I measure for a floater frame?

Measure the outside edge of your finished stretched canvas (width × height). That’s the number you order. We build the floater to suit, with our standard float gap.

What finishes do you offer?

  • Raw (paint-ready)

  • Stain (Light / Medium / Dark) - coming soon!

  • Beeswax (can be added after staining too)

Can I order a custom size?

Yes you can. Use the Custom Sizes Quote Tool and send us a message. If you can dream it (and measure it), we can probably build it.

Do you include hardware?

Usually, yes—depending on what you’re ordering:

  • Frames + stretched canvases: Hardware is typically included, and we can mount things so you can paint, pop it back in, and hang it.

  • Stretched canvas only: We don’t automatically include hardware (artists like options), but just ask and we’ll sort you out.

  • Floater frame only: Hardware isn’t always included by default, but again… ask us and we’ll happily add what you need.

How do you assemble your corners?

We build tight, square corners for stability and a clean presentation—the kind of structure that behaves itself when the work gets big (or the paint gets wild). Our corners are pinned for alignment during assembly, so let us know if you want your piece oriented landscape or portrait. Same goes for canvases—we’ll place the fold and orientation the right way for you.

What wood do you use?

We use stable, studio-worthy lumber selected for strength and straightness.

  • Floater frames: Basswood — lightweight, smooth, and beautiful for a clean gallery finish. We chose it on purpose because it finishes beautifully, hangs easy, and keeps pricing realistic. The showstopper is the art—the frame just helps it take a proper bow.

  • Stretchers: Typically Hemlock (materials may vary slightly based on availability and what’s best for the job).

If you need specifics for a particular order (or you’re matching an existing body of work), just ask.

Want a fancier wood?

We can build floaters in premium options (like maple or ash). Request a custom quote.

Do you ship?

Right now we’re local-first:

  • Local pickup is available (and yes, coffee and art talk are welcome).

  • We deliver locally within Vancouver with a starting rate of $50, depending on size + distance.

  • We also do monthly trips to Whistler, Victoria, and the Okanagan.

  • We’re setting up courier shipping, currently offering delivery up to Manitoba.

For now, we treat every delivery with the same attention as if we were hand-carrying it to your studio... because guess what, WE ARE :)

Where are you located?

We’re based in North Vancouver, and everything is made in-studio.

What’s your return policy?

Because these are made-to-order items, all sales are final unless there’s a workmanship issue.
If something arrives damaged, contact us with photos right away and we’ll sort it out.

Can I cancel or change my order after placing it?

Because everything is made-to-order, we can’t always make changes once production starts. If you need to adjust something, message us ASAP and we’ll do our best.
Depending on where your order is at, we may be able to offer a discount on the updated order (especially if you ask nicely). But truly—double-check your sizes before ordering. Future-you will thank you.
